HD formatted, XP will not load NOW [rebooted] [thanks in advance]

Q: I formatted HD with XP, but ran through all the setup files, copying what was needed for the setup, reboot to finish, and I get nothing. Hard drive spins for a while as the CD, but I get nothing on the screen showing that Windows is setting up. I am booting from the CD. Need some quick help to try and figure this one out. for any advice.

OK, got XP to load, but….I still have to leave the cd in because now I'm being asked for a password to get into the bios :| . How do I get around this?

Shut off your comp, pull the power cord, open your case, remove the battery from the mobo, set your bios jumper to reset your bios ( usually from 1-2 to 2-3) for 5 min. Then put the bios jumpers back, install the battery, plug in your power cord, turn on your comp and go into your bios and reset what ever custom settings you had.

Re:after youve installed xp, jsut take out the cd and it will boot off hd automatically because there is nothing in cddrive to boot from

either that or go into bios and change boot order, put hd before cddrive
(i dnot know your bios, so it might be a bit different, maybe you have to disable booting from cdrom or wahtever)

Re:So when it says it is going to reboot in XX seconds, I need to go into the BIOS and change it to boot from ide0 and nothing else and remove the cd? I was running XP, I am just reformatting to get rid of the excess crap, etc. The screen is black, the only thing on it is from within the monitor showing the current khz. I tried using the menu button on the monitor to see if the settings defaulted to something else, but I can't even get that.

Re:Do you keep letting it boot to the cd? You should only boot to CD once to go through initial setup and copy files. Then do not let if boot to cd again.

If that is what you are doing… What this a running system before? What exactly do you see on the screen? Are there words? Is it solid black?
