Q: Ok, I just installed Windows XP and my files from my trasferred Western Digital 30 to a computer friends. After installing XP and try to move the files to my original HD from his computer, an error that I was almost out of space. He said maximum capacity around 10 gigs . what does this mean? Im 30, but she says that my hard disk is almost full. Someone who knows what I can do? I tried to compress, but no luck.

Re:Yeah these guys had some good ideals…..

Problems:

Choice 1#. Your Mainboard Bios is out dated…..YOur BIOS may have flaShing option…taking it that you can find the software to update it on web somewhere.

Choice #2. Your Hard Drive was Partioned wrong by the FDISK.EXE located on your Computer BootDisk.

Stick in your boot Disk at start up, Get to a "Re:/" prompt, Type …….. dir Your get alot of options…One of them will get you the Partion Table to viwe what you have…I cna't think right now…of the details…

Re:Your motherboard cannot see a drive that large: its geometry is beyond the range your BIOS can use. You may be able to flash your BIOS to handle it, if not, you can use the drive overlay software (OnTrack Disk Manager or EZ-BIOS) to translate the drive's geometry into parameters that will work with your board.

Re:use fdisk to view the partition table.

Re:if your friend partitioned properly, open my computer, you should see c: and d: as hard drives

Re:Wait, maybe this will help. I just remember my friend saying he did partitioning. I guess in the BIOS or something…I'm not exactly the computer genius. So what does it take to free up the space or use the other 20 gigs?
