Q: Hi – Im in need of some guidance!
Ive just started building my first PC and I have been a big hit problem.
I him to build the machine in a Supermicro SC760 server is, and equipped with the CPU and RAM on the board, connected fans and the board installed in the box, I then plugged into the front panel connectors and power supply.
However, when I power on the power absolutely nothing happens. Im pretty sure the last box I have the Supermicro fan power would always come for a few seconds when the power was connected (even if the system had been switched off at the front). Does this mean that the food is broken or could it just be that one of my fron panel jacks correct.
Any help would really really be appreciated on this – I am a pygmy PC build and this has scared s *** t out of me Many thanks-.
advance.
Jules

Best Answer: I'm going to throw out something different than the other posters. Since you were in the BIOS at the time of Freeze-up I'm going to recommend that you clear the bios by relocating the jumper near your bios battery on the mainboard. Generally pin one and two are jumpered, move to 2 and 3 then boot, you should still see nothing – then put the jumper back onto 1 and 2 see if that makes a difference.
Being that you've just done this upgrade the instructions are in your MB book to do this and locate the jumper to move.
Re:It won't be grounding out if the fans are not coming on, everything will whrrrr up but not a sausage on the screen.
Most likely the connectors to the case, power to motherboard or electricity plug/cable to power supply…if its none of them try the power supply in a machine that works.
good luck
Re:Make sure you didnt mixup your Power lED and Power switch wires
Re:I have that same case and there is no switch on the powersupply
Here is what to check
1)make sure the mobo is not grounding out on the case and that you properly positioned the standoffs
2)Make sure the front panel connectors are in the proper location …good rule of thumb make sure the writing on the connector is facing "outward and not "towards" each other. Having a connector in the wrong place or reversed might be the problem.
3)Make sure the CPU,RAM and all other cards are properly seated…reseat all to be on the safe side.
4)Make sure the powercord is plugged in the back of the case and it is set at 115 volts (should be but a precautionary move non the less).
5)Make sure the surge protector is on
Good Luck
