Q: I can not figure out how I make my laptop display on a screen. I have an IBM Thinkpad 600x. I recently bought an adapter cable (goes from VGA to s-video or RCA composite one VGA) from eBay, I can not get to work (Im pretty sure I properly fit). It seems that this one (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemu0026item=3416556598u0026category=3668). I was wondering if anyone has any idea how old the standard VGA monitor output into a TV. I use the monitor output for viewing on a monitor and it works fine. Even when I plugged my new cable, I display it, but it was funny, (it was three skinny high desktops shown in black and white, and you could not really see anything). Anyone got an opinion or have done so? Any help would totally rock! Thank you in advance!

Re:To get a display on the TV you will need to purchase a scan converter such as you linked above.
If you search on eBay you can find one cheaper.
Just pay attention on the specs of the converter. Many only support 800×600 resolution. So you'll be stuck at 800×600 while using the device.

Re:No, it has a spot where it would connect, but it is filled in with plastic. I don't understand why. The guy I bought it from (on at), said he had a cord that made it connect to a tv, then he forgot the cord and sent it to me later, but it doesn't have a place that it can connect to on the laptop. Anyways, I found this (http://www.hut.fi/Misc/Electronics/circuits/vga2tv/circuit.html), but it doesn't seem quite worth that much trouble. I just want to buy something, and have it work. Is there any thing like a usb to tv or something? maybe that is a good idea? Thanks for the help?
