Q: Hi people, the situation
Here :
-I m running 4 computers connected to a router connected to Internet through dsl.
-three of these computers can access it all thats accessible
the ONE who can not access ME.
I common pages is no access to such bananarepublic.com, buy.com, staples.com, etc. pages that are not even restricted. It is not due to spelling or something, if this is what happens: I try to access for example gap.com it will begin to access the page, but at some point, adjacent to 1 / 8 of the way which it just stops and makes the whole thing . This is the case with many other web pages. On the other computers, all pages can be accessed normally. I have tried using different Internet programs like Netscape, and have also tried reinstalling my network card and drivers, cables and even eliminate the others, but the same situation. No matter what I do, I still can not access the web pages that the other guys can.
the only difference between the other computers (a big difference, if significant) is that Im the only one with the Barricade Port Monitor (router applications) am. What happens here?
Re:Well, here it goes…
I got impatient, Jack, and I just decided to try uninstalling the barricade software.. you were right on one thing.. connection is still intact .. but MY PROBLEM STILL HASN'T BEEN RESOLVED!! SOMEONE PLEEEEEASE HELP!!!
Thanks to you all who have already given some input ![]()
Re:Jack,
So do you recommend I try uninstalling my barricade software?
and NightHawk,
did you ever resolve your problem? If so, how?
Re:I have few SMC Barricades; I never used or installed their Software. Every thing that I do works OK without any of their software on any of my system.
What I basically do is Log with IE to http://192.168.123.254/ , and do the entire configuration directly to the Barricade.
The problem that you are referring to can also be generated by other difficulties.
It can generated by incorrect setting in IE on the ME computer.
It can also happened due to corrupt files related to the browser. I had the same problem on two of my computer, and it was resolved after installing IE 5.5 SP2.
Re:I have this same problem when I set my proxy software, WinProxy, to the NAT setting from the transparent proxy mode. Some sites, for example cnn.com, I am unable to access — they just come up and say 'Website Found' but do not actually load the page. Although, when I go back to the transparent proxy setting they all work fine. Very wierd…
Re:No, I was referring to the cd that came with my router.. it has a lot of configuration and setup options.. i thought i would be required to keep those settings because it contains the ip info, etc.
Re:Never heard about ?But if I were to remove the SMC software from my computer, wouldn't I be unable to connect at all? ?
Are you by any chance referring to the PPPOE software that most DSL providers use?
Re:But if I were to remove the SMC software from my computer, wouldn't I be unable to connect at all? And wouldn't the same go for the other 3 computers? I was just thinking so because the software contains all connection configurations and networking options.. ??
Re:The only place your ip could be blocked is on the router itself, and in that case NO web sites would work.
Try removing the SMC monitoring stuff and see if that makes a difference.
Re:No, they aren't blocking any IP's.. my other computers that are hooked up to this same router works fine, so I don't think IP restrictions were really a factor.. but please correct me if I'm wrong.
Re:Are they blocking your IP for some reason? Send them and email and ask.
