Q: First I used a dual boot system mdk7.2/win2k . I found myself NOT to start with Linux, and I recently acquired a different computer, so I thought I would just remove the partitions with Partition Magic, and mix them with my main storage partition. However, when I boot I still have the LILO screen. I suppose I should do the fdisk / mbr, but when I open a command prompt in win2k and try to run fdisk, fdisk says not recognized as an internal command or something. I have a win98 boot disk and do fdisk / mbr or is there an easier way?
Second of all, I had Diskeeper trial version 5.03 installed. The 30 days expired thing, so I decided to remove it. When I was in the Control Panel, the Add / Remove Programs thing, and picked u0026quot; remove u0026quot; u0026quot, Diskeeper said to be installed on Windows Professional u0026quot; (or something similar) and I was like WTF! So I tried the new version of Diskeeper 6.whatever install on top of it, and it got halfway through the installation, and gave me the same message! So I said screw it and went to just use the default defragger that comes with win2k, but because Diskeeper would not install, I deleted all registry keys related to it, along with its installation folder. its still in my control panel, and gives the same error when trying to remove. Running Computer Management system package gave me an error that u0026quot, snap-in u0026quot, and not u0026quot; initialize Name: Disk Defragmenter u0026quot, so after all that, my question is, how do I get my old defragger rebounded, no cases of Diskeeper ever on my computer?

Re:UPDATE
well, in case someone is wondering about these 2 questions, i fixed them.
LILO problem: put in a win98se startup disk, typed fdisk /mbr, and it fixed everything
diskeeper problem: went to the website, and they have about a 30 step process to get the b@stard out of your OS. took a while, but it worked.

Re:thanks! i had searched the forums for the diskeeper problem, but i figured a LILO search would bring up too many threads to look through.

Re:that's part of the problem… i don't HAVE the executable anymore… diskeeper gets rid of defrag entirely. i tried to run the MMC and add Computer Management as a snap-in, as i said before (this should reinstall defrag, or so i have heard) but got those errors… i sense a reformat coming

Re:I dont really run Windows but I think maybe you should back up your stuff and reinstall, that would rid you of your problems with LILO easily and it would fix your control panel problem. Unless that stuff doesnt bother you then just dont worry about it
