HighPoint controller and Win2k [highpoint controller] [hercules game]

Re:Yes, I am using the latest BIOS with an older driver now and I dont have the sound stutter problem but windows takes forever to boot. If I use the latest BIOS and DRIVER I get a sound stutter but no problems at boot time. I appreciate the help, anyway =)

Re:I don't have the same configuation as you do but in order for me to get my system to run stable (Win2k w/ abit be6ii w/ the Hpt366 ultra dma 66 controller) I had to NOT use the latest and greatest. Try using an older driver for the … If I use the latest BIOS AND driver.. my system randomly crashes.. and takes a little longer to boot. I switched back to an older driver revision and viola! Worth a shot.. 5 minutes to boot is just sad… :(

Re:This is funny. Thanks for your help. I take it you arent from an English speaking country and thats ok. You arent understanding anything I am saying and I can hardly understand anything you are saying. I appreciate your attempts though, no matter how futile they might be.

Thanks again,
Pete

Re:what you mean you can't not hit f6. ok i try my best for help now. first format you hardrive. than at bios set floppy disk first . seconde cdroom , third scisi, than put the win2000 pro and restart the pc. follow the prom. the first time you see blue screen say scan hard ware in you pc than hit f6 right away and waiting untill it say put a floppy disk that content hight point driver than put the disk in and the rest in following the prom

Re:Holy jesus, you cant even install the OS without hitting F6, I am not a retard. This is getting to be ridiculous. I understand you are trying to help, but you are just frustrating me more.

Re:I cant understand a word you are saying. Please edit the post and insert comma's and period's where they belong. Also, what dont you get? My, IF I use different drivers for my stinkin , it boots fine, this is an OPERATING SYSTEM issue, not BIOS. Get off my back, please.

Re:ah i just remember one think during install win2000pro did you hit f6 and input high point driver if not so i think you should reinstall the os

Re:you say nothing with bios but one thing for sure i does relate to bios for example if you enable raid that mean you have an extra i/o controller so when ever your boot up bios take more time to scan it that why it take long time to boot up especaily when raid are one and only one device connected and i take more time than than four hardrive connected to raid card the reason it bios scan it and it don't see any thing there so i take more time to scan and make sure every thing are correct.

Re:Wow. Are you doing this on purpose? Like my post says I am using the latest sound card drivers. Hercules also tells you that if you use the LATEST HIGHPOINT DRIVERS with the LATEST HERCULES SOUND DRIVERS under win2k you will get a stuttering sound problem. If I use OLDER HIGHPOINT DRIVERS with the latest HERCULES SOUND DRIVERS there is no stutturing sound but I get the error described in my initial post. Damn.

Re:i know but i have same mobo and sound card like you have . well for sound problem you should go to hercules.com download the lastest drive for win2000 it may solve your problem

Re:Wow. Did you read my whole post? This has nothing to do with BIOS or what IDE channels my stupid hard drives are on. WINDOWS takes about 5 minutes to boot. The problem goes away when I upgrade the drivers but then my sound stutters, I just want to know if there is a way around this.

Pete

Re:well put the hardrive that connected to ide3 to first ide chane and set master and 7 gig for slave and at bios disable raid and it will boot up fast

Re:I have 2 hard disks. And nothing happened to IDE 3. I dont think any of this has to do with the windows boot up problem.
