Re:asus probe reads high.
i have a t-bird @1.05 gigs, and my idle temps are 38 degrees and thats with a volcanoII, im not sure how you guys read load temps, but I was playing CS just now, and quit out right to asus probe and it said 40C. not bad right?
its back to 37 now, but im in boston so its not too hot here.
feel your heatsink, if it is slightly warm to the touch your ok, if its hot or real warm u should be worrying

Re:That is too high for my liking. Get a strong fan, and be sure to check that the Heatsink is on securely and that it is making contact correctly.

Re:Ya it does seem really high and i'm certain this is why its been locking up. I run RC5 constantly, so the cpu is always under a load.
I have an Alpha PAL6035 (regular thermal grease, no pad) w/ a low voltage Sanyo-Denki fan that only moves about 20CFM. I just put a YS-Tech on and all see how it does. I had the Sanyo sucking air away and the heatsink had alot of dust on the outer fins. I cleaned it up and have the YS-Tech blowing on the Alpha now. Its staying right about 48C now, but i haven't put the case back on yet.
Its a well ventilated case though with a 120 in front and back. The room temparature has never been about 76F until the last couple days, which has been as hot as 83F. Plus the air has been very humid, close to saturated.

Re:well, no socket a cpu temp is accurate, but those temps are really high.. what hsf are you using? is it on properly? did you take off the tape on the thermal pad (if it has one?)
