How apps run at startup / Remove backround in Win2000? [backround] [laptop]

Q: Does Win2000 have a msconfig / startup alternatives such as Win98 and XP? My work is Win2000 and I would like to see what is running in the that I can conclude. Can anyone tell me how to do this?

Re:There is a msconfig for win2k, i had this problem. If you need it just email me at DavidSeebach@pcpowerweb.com and let me know and i'll send it over, its a small file and works just like 98 or whatever system ur use to.

Re:just copy the msconfig from windows xp to your win 2000 folder (winnt), its 100% compatible!
Just like PSYWguy said!

Re:Startup Control Panel (http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml)

It basically replaces the MSconfig program (which as other have stated is not present in W2K).

Excellent little program, IMHO. I highly recommend it…

Re:The msconfig included with XP works with 2k. If you have access to an XP machine, just copy it over to the system folder. If not, PM

Re:lowtech and guy, Thanks for the help. I'll check out those options in the morning when I get to work.

Re:You can CTrl+ALT+DEL in Win2000 and open the Task Manager…check the Processes list to see what's in the background.

Otherwise, search Google for StartupCPL
It's an app that lets you see what's starting on Win2000 startup

Re:Try removing it from: Start > Programs > Startup
Disable it if is a services: Start > Run > [services.msc]

Good luck!
