You have to burn on CD or save the music on the hard drive in computer's music format.

You can play over the LAN, MP3 files MIDI or WAV, any kind that can be stored on a Hard Drive.

You can burn it onto CD but it has to be the kind of format that can be stored on a Hard Drive.

Thanks guy. I guess we were writing at the same time that's why i couldnot read your post and posed the question that you seem to have answered already. I have learned a great deal from the links you have provided. Thanks once again.

If you are trying to listen to a audio CD via the network, then no, it will not work. This is why you get the format is not supported error message.

Even if you enable DAE for Audio CDs you still will not be able to listen to them over a network. Audio CDs are a very different format from Data CDs. File sharing only supports actual files, not audio CD tracks.

When i copy the tracks into my harddrive from the shared on my other computer i still can't listen to it. why ? at this point i am not accessing the of the shared computer and the file is physically on my harddrive. do i need a special software like media player to copy the files in correct format?

What is DAE?
