Q: I recently bought a retail CPU from Newegg, and someone said there was a chance to retail versions I might not be the core I just buy it. Is there any way to verify the core got before I installed?
Here is what it says about the CPU: Athlon
AMD 64
ADA3500DAA4BP
LBBLE 0519FPFW
Z700534E53089
Thanks,

OMG am i totally dumb or what .. i should really stop skimming through posts .. didnt realise that you had posted your stepping in the original post …
ADA3500DAA4BP the BP means that it is a Venice, and the AA4 IIRC means 512k L2 cache
also 0519FFPW means a week/year build of the 19 week of 05 (2005)
and LBBLE cant quite remember this one think it means REV-E (Revision E on the K8 architecture)

Re:Dredd2929, I just looked up the numbers, your CPU seems to be a Venice.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103532, ADA3500DAA4BP is the model number for that CPU.

Re:True, but that would involve installing the processor first
I'm guessing from the responses that there is no way to tell which core my CPU is before installing it. I guess I'll have to just give it a whirl and see.
If my assumption is incorrect, please correct me.
Thanks all for your responses.

thats one big QFT, assuming you have already installed the CPU… ??
EDIT just re-read "before i install it" .. on the top of the CPU you will see loads of writing numbers letters etc, post exactly what it states on the CPU and I and others will be able to tell you what core you have ![]()

Re:The thing is that it doesn't say Venice anywhere on the box, unless I'm not looking in the right place. Where would it say it?

Re:If it comes in a Venice box, it should be a Venice. Never heard anything about core mix-ups or deceptions.
EDIT : It's the OEM ones you gotta watch out for.
