How I can assimilate it into my main partition? I tried to create another in the empty space, and then combine them. PM does not allow it.

I had a similar scenario with a FAT disk partition, and could merge by creating a FAT partition in the .

I've never had 8MB of space left over, as some of you suggest this 'alway' happens, this clearly isn't the case.

If you format using a DOS boot disk then yes .

When you let Windows 2k/XP partition and format a hardisk it will reserve 8MB for converting the disk from Basic to Dynamic. Even Partition Magic will reserve the 8MB if you partition the disk with it.

In short just leave it alone. It is after all only 8MB…..

DITTO !

Can you extend the current partition into the space without creating an extra partition? When I had this problem, I simply made the partition bigger to fill the gap.
