Re:you obviously have a defective or most likely bad copy of xp.

you can easily make it bootable by coping the entire copy of the disc into your hard drive then downloading the bootfiles from the internet then make a bootable cd using nero or easy cd creator.

I ran into this Misssing NTRDL error when I was trying to slip stream sp1 to my xp cd.

if you don want to slipstream sp1 then ignore the steps involving the sp1.

the key is making sure your nero has the option "for do not add the "1" iso file version extension" my nero did not have this option had to manually do it in the registry
I would slip stream sp1 since you are doing this anyway.

good luck

hope you have another computer to do this though

Re:yep ..I looked on the CD, I don't think that the CD I have is bootable .. I got it back from a Microsoft show when I was in Dubai in UAE about a year ago.
Can I copy it to another CD and make it bootable !?

Re:All you need to do is boot from the XP cd and allow XP to format the drive, there is no need to mess with floppies or preformat the drive.

Re:If the XP CD you bought won't boot, you should call MS.

The only thing I can think of is to reformat the drive as FAT32 so it will be recognized in DOS, install XP, then change it to NTFS after the install is done ! Yeah, you could just make a really small partition and format it in FAT32 and then run winnt.
