Q: lol . a few days ago extracted a winxp image directly on a hard drive so that Windows thinks it cd.
everytime winxp winxp I double click the setup screen appears up.
i trying to remove the files, but the picture is still there. . I had no way to get rid of the next HD format?
Best Answer: Hi, If he has created a windows partition I think you can either
1) Go into Boot Camp Assistant (find it by typing "Boot Camp Assistant" spotlight) and then you can delete it from there, which will restore your whole drive back to just Mac Partition.
OR
2)Go into Disk Utility, look for partition in left hand panel and then use erase option from there.
Just make sure you are deleting the right partition and you do actually want to delete it (i.e check for contents on the partition)
Re:I'd second guy advice…
Try to access the file from DOS and delete the autorun.inf file – you should then be able to access the files under Windows without the CD automatically starting.
Re:If I understand the situation right, you should be able to access it under DOS.
From there, deleting the autorun.inf file, should allow you access under windows without running the setup.
Re:Do you have your folders set to view all files? There should be a few hidden/system files there that are keeping it as is.
Re:its not that simple… the HD acts like a virtual cd drive that has a winxp image on it.
