Q: Heres my problem. I have an old ISA sound card that I loaded a couple of NT4 drivers for the 2003 server. The OS then she asked for a good reboot I did. When starting the PC reboot like the Startup.wav is played.
1) I still tried safe mode reboot
2) from the ISA card then boot the PC in 2003 fine.
3 server) the problem is Im not sure where to look for possible removal. Dlls and infs
ANyone have any ideas? I do not want to have the sound every time I boot into 2003 server to remove.
Best Answer: The symptoms you described here indicate a hardware failure. The possible causes are:
1. Network interfacing card is disabled, enable it in "control panel >network connections > local area connection.
2. Check and make sure that network cable is plugged in properly.
3. check and make sure that network drivers are not corrupt, reinstall if necessary.
Re:I installed w2k3 server on my piii 800 which also has a isa slot on the motherboard. For some reason, I am having the same problem. I guess the ISA technology is too old and it didn't want to recognize it as a device.
Re:Thanks guys for trying. I could not evev boot to safe mode with the card installed. Its ok. I wiped it off the drive. I just needed it to test some stuff
Re:scratch that above…
Remove, don't disable. Shouldn't pnp on bootup.
Re:Safe mode, disable (don't remove) the drivers. You may have to select View | show hidden devices in device manager.
Next time, don't remove the sound card and login…just hit "last known good" in that situation.
Re:I never heard of a server running 2k3 that had isa slots
do the drivers show up in device manager? assuming they don't the only way I would think you could remove them would be to e-mail the manufacturer of the card, and find out the regkey entries that need to be removed. you could also try norton systemworks windoctor utility.
