How is it that Word 2003 can not save to PDF? [party apps] [open office]

Q: Even the humble OpenOffice can save to PDF. It seems it would be useful if this feature is built

I hate to even more third to add to my computer most of them cause not seem to convert to sound.

actually did a good job when I used it to convert to PDF.

Best Answer: Simply put, you can't do what you want.

A screen print will be able to print the document….

Some kind of digital signatures should be able to help you with the distribution though.

pdf formats, will not allow you to edit the text, but you can print and save them.

There is a way that you can get what you want though. Print a copy out yourself, go and see the people, let them read it and take it back. No copying, no changes, no printing.

Any users want to tell me how to remove that annoying outline on documents. When I save to PDF it also leaves a strict outline instead of using the whole page.

Nevermind I found the answer over at Openoffice.org.

Ghostscript? What?

I have it installed, and it doesn't need that…

[Edit]

Just checked, that's freaking weird. Want me to email the working version to you?

Yeah I'll PM you.

First I've heard of that. What does it need?

It requires Ghostscript to work.

CutePDF is a nifty free alternative to PDF Maker – just print to the CutePDF printer, and voila – instant PDF. Works great for me :)

GRRRRR….cute PDF requires additional files to actually work.

Re:Microsoft hates and fears any content standard that it doesn't control and which can't be bound to its OSes.

For every kind of content they have always created their own formats and resisted exporting to any format that offers competition (dead formats like dBase are acceptable).

PowerPoint – no Flash export
Word – no PDF
Media Player – crippled MP3, no Ogg or FLAC, no MOV, etc.
etc.

Re:The point was that PDF is pretty damn common and it should have been added. It's like when Media Player wouldn't play Mp3's cause microsoft was pushing WMA on us.

Re:Real Alternative (http://home.hccnet.nl/h.edskes/mirror.htm). Seriously, people.

Re:I use PDFcreator (http://sector7g.wurzel6.de/pdfcreator/index_en.htm). It's an open source PDF virtual printer. It also works wonders on CAD files that Adobe's PDF distiller can't even handle.

And it's open source. :)

Re:Doesn't adobe acrobat CS provide the plugin for this? Well, I got one when I installed Adobe CS.

Re:Contrary to your question, I've been annoying each time when I close Words, it will ask me again by PDF maker. So I have to close that too. Arrrhhh…anyone know how to deal with this?

Re:the pdf 995 print driver has always worked well for me.

Re:too much $$$..also, they aren't relying on another company this way'

they want it all to be web-based.
