how quiet water cooling like a heat pipe cooler and fan heatsink? [mid tower case] [fan heatsink]

Q: Can some one tell me how free watercooling Im looking for something very much for my CPU (P4 3.4 Prescott) and I do not know overclocking watercooling is great solution, but how free compared to other alternative such as heat pipe sink etc? or if you recommend me some water Colling can you tell me if I can be on a mid-tower case? and also has water cooling maintenance free? if so, can you link to a place to buy one 0.

thanks in advance!

Ps: all pro and cons of having a water cooling system will be nice to know:)

I've also thought of putting my Zalman heatpipe back on, but it's so much trouble. I'll just put a water block on instead. I doubt your system is quieter, mainly due to the fact that you have 2 120mm fans with poor acoustic qualities (plus the Sonata's front fan mount causes air turbulence noise). I can't believe Panaflo messed up the 120mms as they did (I've junked 3.) The only thing that could make you quieter is your fluid bearing HD… But the mounting is worse.

At such low CFM there isn't very much air turbulance if at all. They're all held in using those rubber pull throughs or whatever you call them.

You mentioned you run your fans at 7V. I've noticed the 2V difference makes it quieter at closer ranges.

I don't see how the mounting is worse. They're sitting on rubber pretty much absorbing the vibration.

Does the Acoustimat actually help? Is it worth buying one of those?

I bought my case from Acoustiproducts. Looking back, it's one of the biggest scams ever. $200 for a slightly modified 3700 BQE with NO fans, NO power supply and some Acoustimat. Plus, my front bezel is a little loose (defective) and they tell me to contact the retailer about it. BTW, Acoustiproducts is based in England. Anyways, I wouldn't recommend buying a case from them.

The matting works well in that it deadens your case. It's not going to stop much noise, but it stops any vibration that may be transmitted to your case. I think it doubled the weight of my side panels, and they make a THUD when you knock on them.

I thought you were using rubber grommets…. Anyways, it's hard to explain sorbothane… it's like… really thick jello. It transmits NO vibrations whatsoever. It's wierd stuff.

I have what I assume is one of the quietest air cooled PCs on AT

can u tell me what do u have so I can try to make my pc that quite like your's thanks again

First off… (http://home.comcast.net/~dianthos/english.wav)

-I'm using an Acousticase C6607 with 1 120mm Acoustifan at the back of the case. The case is lined with the included Acoustimat.
-My power supply is a Zalman 400w modified with a Panaflo (Japan) L1A fan.
-My p4c 3ghz is cooled with a Zalman 7000Cu.
-I have an Arctic Cooling VGA Silencer on my Radeon 9800 Pro.
-My 2 hard drives, Western Digital 80GB special editions, which are soon to go, because the bearings are louder than newer HDs, are sitting on custom cut sorbothane strips at the bottom of my case, effectively isolating any vibration.
-The northbridge fan on my IC7-G has been replaced with a passive Zalman heatsink.
-All 3 fans in the system (120mm Acoustifan, 92mm Zalman HSF, 80mm Panaflo L1A in PSU) are connected to a Nexus fan controller, allowing me to turn them down to 7v.

Nice job, I think I might do what you did to your WD 80 SE's in my rig (they are really noisy, BTW do you know what you will be replacing them with?). Also wiith only 3 fans, how are the temps in your system?

I actually have 4 fans, counting the VGA Silencer.

I'll probably go with a Samsung SATA HD.

I think mine's quieter ;)

Antec Sonata
380W Antec PSU fan replaced with a 80mm Panaflo L1A
120mm Panaflo and a 120mm Antec
Zalman CNPS-7000A Cu
Arctic Cooling VGA Silencer Rev 2
WD Raptor (this should go… but I like it :) , no whine either)
120GB Maxtor DM+9 Fluid Bearing
Both HDDs sitting on rubber gromets
Stock A7N8X-Deluxe NB heatsink
All fans are connected to my Sunbeam fan controller. All fans (except the Silencer) are running at about 5V and the PSU fan running at about 7V.

I'm thinking of putting back on my Zalman heatpipe and replacing the VGA Silencer.

Re:The new Zalman Reserator is near silent. I have what I assume is one of the quietest air cooled PCs on AT, but I still plan on upgrading to the Reserator. It makes a fanless system possible. The radiator is passive, and pump is VERY quiet.

Re:Pros:

Looks nice
Makes your cpu cooler
Good for overclocking
Quiet

Cons:

Very expensive compared to hsf
Can be hard to install – depends wat case you have
And bad installation can cause leakage
Just be careful and you will be fine if you watercool

You can get a HS/F for around $guy. Get one of them Thermalright 100% copper heastsink and combine it with a 92mm panaflo or modify the fan holder to accept a 120mm panaflo :) With this cooling it will be very quiet however, your hd might be louder.

Re:water cooling is not necessarily quiet. Depends how you do it. Most guys still have fans in their rig, and sometimes are as loud, or louder than a good air cooling solution. Plus it can be very expensive.

There are some very good air cooled heatsinks on the market. Thermalright and Zalman make some very good ones that will cool quite well with a quiet 92mm fan on them. Then you can have some 80 or 92mm intake/exhaust fans setup on a fanbus (like the Vantec Nexus) and turn them down on cooler days, and when you're not working the cpu 100%. When it's all said and done, you'll probably have a very quiet system with less money invested.
