Q: I am very unhappy with my recent decision of partitioning. I installed win xp pro and Red Hat 8 on a dual boot. Im not much on his (her only two days) but I am unhappy with my drives. how stupid an idea it is to sweep all and try again?
Re:If it is not how you like it, I'd just reinstall everything. You might as well get it right the first time then have to redo everything later on and reinstall and re-configure all your stuff. Nip it in the bud.. if the install is not old and you don't have a lot of time invested in it, i'd say might as well get it right! just as long as you don't have anything important in there
Re:Well, i said risky because i was going to try to keep my linux partition and my dual boot going. i decided to wipe that also and will redo that later. the reloading worked fine.
Re:Go for it, nothing wrong with that. I did it plenty when I just go this computer and was exploring options. What do you mean by risky though? Risk of what? There's really no risk… other than the fact that you'll lose all your data.
If you just don't like how the space is distributed, you could use a program like partition magic to resize the partitions without destroying stuff.
Re:Now (before you spend hours configuring everything) is the time to wipe it. Also, you may want to give Mandrake a try. I tried RH and gave up on it. The Mandrake partition utility is a breeze to use.
Re:well, i had nothing on there that i don't have on my other box. i just popped in the cd. it should be fine.
Re:depends on how bad of partitioning job you did and how much time on your hands you have… just do it… I really dont know if I understand the question now that I think about it………
Re:Actually, not very stupid at all. As long as you back up all your important data
