Re:A local Office Depot that I once worked at used the SQU numbers of the products for passwords.
I quit about a year ago and they still use these "passwords" to my knowledge.

Re:Hm…those computers probably have autorun turned on, in which case you could burn a screensaver bypass program onto the CD and set it to autorun. It could be a relatively simple program that just kills the screensaver process. This would work even on "real" screensavers. I don't know how easy it would be for the program to find and terminate the process, though. you could even just have a program that autoruns to steal the focus from the screen saver. Once the focus is stolen, the screensaver only prevents you from seeing what's happening, you can still control the system flying blind.

Re:guy has it right. If the terminal is logged onto a network via NT or 2K you're stuck. You can cntl-alt-del all you want. A reboot is necessary and you'll have to have the logon username an pw anyway…

Re:Screensaver passwords are totally useless. As long as the system isn't logging into a network just restart the system, do what you need, and let the screensaver kick back on when you're done. If it's logging into a network and you don't know the password then you could get caught because network resources (shares, printers, etc) aren't going to be available.
I work in IT and I *hate* it when users put screensaver passwords on their systems. My resolution is to reboot it, change the screensaver password, and let them come ask me why they can't get on their system. I then tell them how little protection a screensaver password provides and ask them to refrain from using one.
Now if the PC is running NT or 2000 that's another story…
