Q: Quick question. Got Win ME and Win 2k in different partitions. I usually use Win 2k – I just win games. In any case, if I Win ME and I use internet explorer, seems to have its own set of favorites. The bookmarks Ive added to Internet Explorer in a win 2k can not see beneath me to win. How do I make two versions of the same IE favorites, bookmarks added in order to win 2k will be seen by IE in Windows ME and vice versa?
Thanks,
BJ

Re:If you've read my dissertation, you see that I like to make a small FAT partition for C:. Well, one of the things I place there now is my Favorites directory. You can use TweakUI to make the necessary registry adjustments.
I also came across a program on ZDNet called FavOrg. It scans you Favorites directory and then downloads **and archives** favicons. For me, I have a C:\Favorites\Icons directory that is hidden (show it doesn't show up anywhere), but those colorful demons are permanently keep. I think I'm up to 60 or so favicons.
I have the FavOrg program bookmarked at work.

Re:Good One guy!
One think to look out for, if the win2k partition is NTFS, I would make the reg change in 2k. Win9x can't read an NTFS partition, but we all know 2k can read FAT partitions. Also, I think he needs to reg edit the user.dat for the person logged into 2k, because favorites info is kept for each user. Let us know if the reg hack works! ![]()
Re:install tweakui for both winme and win2k and then change the path of your favorites with tweakui to point to the same place that both oses can access (d drive?). then copy over all your bookmarks to that folder.
Re:IE5 has a nice import/export feature for favorites and cookies. Now this won't actually share the same favorites folder, you can export your favs and them import them into the other OS. You can find the feature under the FILE menu.
I dug a little deeper and found something interesting in the Win2k registry.
Go to Hkey_current_user\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre nt Version\Explorer\Shell Folders You will find a key named Favorites. Edit this key and have it point to the location of your WinME favorites location. This should let you use the same favorites location for Both OSes.
Re:I've woundered the same thing. Haven't ever found anything on it.
