How to make win2k again and use the repair function?

Q: I tried to boot from the CD, but I will simply default win2k boot up screen, its impossible to boot from the CD and then reinstall the repair mode?

Re:That wasn't the proble, I know all the Bios settings!

A friend told me, that upon reinstall the CD isn't bootable under win2k, so I had to go into the cdrom, and run Makeboot.exe in the /bootdisk directory. It uses 4 floppy disks and loads all the drivers, in order to boot the CD.

I chose repair previous installation, it prompted for admin password, i haven't ever set one, so I pressed return. It did a few things, then stopped responding. So i rebooted, and chose reinstall, it then gave me another repair option, which i used to repair the Settings. This was successful

Re:You should go in to the BIOS and check to make sure that the Boot order has the CD comming before the HD.

Re:you can boot from CD and start the repair process, and it will continue from the OS boot menu next time you get there. try it and see anyway. does your BIOS support it CD boot? would have to be 2+ years old not to.

Re:hrm?? i dont understand u put a bootable cd into the drive but it boots u into the normal bootup…meaning it goes to the h.d. to get the win2k installed…

if thats true then mebbe ur cdrom isnt set as a bootable drive…

mebbe im not understanding what u mean.
