Q: I am a regular gamer at CS. Me and my friends want to setup our own server. We have a computer with a number of requirements that I have found in other forums. I wonder when I meet all requirements for a server to get it, I have no idea what to do after that. I would like to know how to start a dedicated server, information about how to obtain and use AMX or admin for my server, how to get to the statistics, and finally another server with an initial user / builder for Counter-Strike will need. All information will be useful.

Re:but is there a guide on how it could be possible to set this up…for source? I wanna find out so i can go from there
Re:Yeah… your upstream bandwidth will be the limiting factor. With regular Counter-Strike, not Source, I could host an 8 person server with my 256k upstream. Pings would start to increase when more than 4 people (besides me on my LAN) were connected though. Source is even more demanding, so I'd guess that you could host a 4-6 person server with 256k upstream.
Re:Most residential broadband access will be severely limited on the upload side (usually 256k or 384kbps) and that's a killer for any medium sized FPS game server.
If you're serious about it, I'd consider renting some space from one of the big game server providers.
