Q: For example, if I see an image I want to download, I right click for context menu and choose Save Image As. It will often take more than 5 seconds for the download manager to appear. If the Download Manager is already visible in the taskbar, it still takes the same amount of time for her to show that something is downloaded (ie it is like a mini-freeze the browser) that brings me to one 0.
Another point. Why is there something in the cache must be re-downloaded (the progress bar goes from 0-100% in the download manager at a speed of more than a meg per second)? I can understand that the file transfer from the cache to the directory, but there seems no default in IE and Opera are.
Re:yea that download manager is buggy. removing stuff from it wihtout using the clean button is also dog slow

Just drag the image to your desktop…Takes virtually no time and the download box should not show up.
This requires me to contract the browser window?

Ha! I didn't know that was possible. I just tried it with your penguin avatar and works great. Nifty trick.

Re:Did it once more and it went up to 99%.
When idling, it takes between 0-2%.

I loaded up Task Manager to observe the resource usage of my browser when I tried saving an image. The piece of sh1t shoots up to 95% CPU utilization for some god damned reason. No virus scanners loaded.
Re:What kind of system do you run? What background apps? I hjave no delay when saving images, I usually don't even see the download window pop up cuz it goes so fast…
