I get weird colors in Quicktime HD trailers [king kong trailer] [weird colors]

Q: When I try to run a HD trailer on the Apple Web sites look, I keep getting weird color problems the entire video. Most people have noticably blue skin. Here is a screenshot I took of the new :

As you can see, Peter Jackson looks like hes about to be issued due to lack of oxygen.

Anyone know what the problem might be? The colors look good in the regular QuickTime videos, but I have a similar problem in some experience. AVI videos in Windows Media Player.

Best Answer: Right click and save to desktop although I am not sure if you can do that with the movie trailers as they are copywrited. Doesn't make any difference if you are on Mac or PC – Quicktime plays on both.

Not sure if HD movie trailers will play on Vista…?

Re:Got this problem too…

Any solution yet? Does anyone have this problem with a non-Nvidia graphics card?

Re:So I did a driver clean and reinstalled the nvidia drives and everything is back to normal.

Never mind, the next time I played something it's blue again.

Re:I have this problem too. It used to work fine, only things I did recently that may have caused it is either upgrade the drivers for my geforce 6800 gt or installing windowblinds 5. I'm gonna try to figure which of these did it.

Re:Plus, quicktime is crashing more than it should be. I never had these issues before. I'm guessing something is up with version 7

Re:That fixes it for me but what do I lose if I use safe mode? The conflict is with DirectX?

Re:Go to edit->preferences->quicktime settings->advanced. Try using GDI safe mode instead.

Odd. Does my above suggestion fix it? I've had this and switching to Overlay fixed it for me. Not optimal, but it works. Also some Overlay setting in ffdshow I enabled let me run high quality mode in WMP.

It doesn't happen in WMP, just Quicktime. Tried Quicktime alternate, same problem.

Re:I'm having the same problem. Starngely, when I open some menu or option box in the player, the colors returno to normal, but they crap out again I close the menu. Non-HD MOVs play fine, as well as any other video in WMP.

Re:If this happens in WMP: Use Overlay instead. Tools–>Options–>Performance–>Advanced and unselect "use high quality mode". One of Microsoft's stupid bugs.
