I have 3! In my Device Manager . I know what the cause. Need help getting rid of them. [hardware wizard] [wireless keyboard]

Q: Im running XP Pro. I have 3! in the Device Manager. These are an old Intel Wireless Base Station, the wireless mouse and . If I have three! from the device manager they come right back the next time I turn the computer. What happens is that the appears and says she is unable to install the device, and it does it 3 times. How can I stop or get rid of those drivers who try to load every time I turn on my computer.

Re:i really hate to post just to argue, but when you reinstall over windows you do lose all of your registry entries related to installed apps. it isnt a problem for most apps, but some you would have to reinstall.

Re:I was gonna reinstall XP this weekend…as I am having some DVD and CDRW drive problems all of a sudden. I didn't know I could reinstall over itself though…thanks for that tip.

Re:Another route is to simply re-install XP now that the hardware is no longer present. You can do a re-install without losing any programs or data.

It's easier than trying to figure out what's left over the registry.

Re:have you tried booting into safe mode and trying to remove the devices? (press F8 during bootup)

can you delete the inf files for those devices in C:\WINDOWS\inf

otherwise maybe run regedit and search for them there (make a backup first! or make sure system restore is working and a restore point is recent)

Re:And no I don't have them plugged in anymore….and thats what I've done is disable them. Just thought there might be someone out there that would know how to get rid of them once and for all.

Re:Do you still have these plugged in (I hope not).

You can just "disable" these an live with the drivers being installed
