I will be able to have a home network with WinME and XP home run? [broadband router] [school thanks]

Q: Will I be able to create a home network with WinME and XP home run? I use an SMC with Cable Internet. I know there are some problems with WinME and 98 at my old school. Thanks!

Re:I am currently using xp pro and ME in a network with an smc router&amp;nbsp;and have not had any probs yet. File and printer sharing working like a dream.&amp;nbsp;Nice and easy to get them working also. Although,&amp;nbsp;I'm using dialup. cable not availible in my area *sucks*. Oh well guess I'll just have to buy a house somewhere else. <IMG alt=Grin src="i/ratingicons/grin.gif" border=0>

Re:i hate to put a downer on your question due to my lack of luck with fixing a problem, but i have not gotten winXP(RC2) and winME to communicate with file and printer sharing yet. i know the connection is there though because the other computer is an ADSL proxy and i can feed off it fine. i've tried a few things but there might be something fundamental i am doing wrong and it might work for you.

Re:Well im using xp pro and win 98SE (slightly different I know). This works fine for me, im sharing files and printers from 98SE, but not wiith xp, mainly beause I dont want to (other family members messing with my files is not good!!) but also os my xpp drives are NTFS formatted. You therefore must use FAT32 to share your files from xp.

Although I have rarely used ME, it should work because the network isn't gonna distinguise that you are using ME.

Re:it shouldn't matter what you're running, just set the computers to use dhcp, and they should get their ip address from the router.
