V: I am managing a W98 box and I keep getting the error in IE6, and a few minutes after I opened. I get an error message saying that there has been a problem and that IE6 now stopped. All information will be lost and closed session. It gives me an option for reporting this as feedback to M $ that I do and I get a screen saying it is done. IE6 shuts down and then restart. A few minutes later, the same happens.
I tried repairing IE. I also tried unistalling and reinstalling IE. Luck.
I not need a screenshot of the message box and will try to put up tonight. Until then, anyone have any idea what in the world can be wrong?
Thanks!
Re:simple, its beta…hehe, has to be – happens to me too..
Re:Hmm.. I would try getting back to IE 5.x. I don't see what else could cause it, actually.
Re:Not sure…it is not my 'puter -> my wifes friend's rig
Re:Did the same thing happen before you upgraded to IE 6.0? It might very well be that this 'upgrade' to IE 6 is responsible for this problem.
Re:Know of any work arounds. It doesn't affect my W2K boxes which run through the same firewall and hence the same cable hookup….
Re:This happens to me also. It's a random thing though. I'll go for a few days without a problem and then suddenly go through an evening of hell. One night when it was particularly bad I downloaded Netscape 6.1 and the latest version of Opera. I quickly discovered the same problem occuring with those browsers as well. It made me wonder if the problem lay with my cable modem provider rather than IE6.
