Q: I can burn at up to 12x, but was not sure if burning at lower speed would be less likely to play tracks when I skip my riovolt.

Re:however, if you convert to .wav, some people advocate burning that format at 1x, so more cd players (ie discman devices, etc.) have a higher chance of reading them. Of course, burning mp3's is a different story, as you can burn those as fast as you like.
does anyone out there prefer to burn audio cds (not mp3 cd's) at 1x only?

Re:No . . . burning music in digital format has no relationship between record speed and playback speed. That would only matter in analog formats. An MP3 recorded at 8X would play exactly the same as one recorded at 24X. Skips, etc., are more the result of the player's quality as well as the media quality recorded on.
