I'm having problems since I was a home network . [norton virus] [linksys router]

Q: I made a home network between my laptop and my sisters PC with a to share an Internet connection

Before all this, my laptop is clean and functioning without the computer was problems.

her popups, possible trojans, viruses, etc. I

Whenever Open IE (homepage set to google.com), I get a pop-ups, I think some spyware but I have on my computer and I can not lose.
I walked spyaware u0026 S D, Adaware, updated on the computer of my sister and found SubSeven virus, and worms.

I adaware ran on mine, spyaware, but not Norton AntiVirus . You think there is a chance my laptop could be infected too?

also, when I try to play multiplayer games online . My ping is too high. It remains approximately 200 . Before the home network, I consistently ping of less than 100. Are there any open ports on my sister or my computer that the network continues to slow? I have not notice any difference when I visit websites, but when I try to play games, it is unbearable. I am also a T1.

Best Answer: Hmmm can you get internet on other programs other than your browsers? If not what kind of upgrade did you do?? From vista to 7? Need more info. Id just scratch it all. Backup data. and do a fresh install with win 7. Something went wrong the first time…

Re:don't listen to him, zonealarm blows. Especially since I'm sure his is a firewall already. what I would do is install "Ethereal" and monitor your network to see where all the traffic is coming from. If you're now getting a high ping, then it's because either you or her have someone on the computer using the bandwidth.

Best solution would be to reformat both :)

Re:Head over to Trend (http://housecall.trendmicro.com/) and run the free housecall online virus scanner on both machines. Also, you may want to install ZoneAlarm on both machines too.

EDIT: Better link to Housecall

Try dissabling messenger in services, it will help on most of the pop-ups.

well the popups I'm talking about are actual ads… with pictures, color, text in a window.
