Im using win2k. When I check how much RAM I have, how come it gives me the long number instead of just saying 256?

Q: plz help . I know its something small, but it annoys me. I would say 256 RAM . not the 6-digit one. In xp, said 256 .

Re:how about you only read the first 3 digits? is this really that big of an issue? come on, 3 digits that you just have to -not look at-…..if it's 143920, then just read the 143.

Re:And yes, it displays in MB (the small number), not KB :)

Re:This utility (http://www.daisyman.arsware.org/coolinfo/screenshot.html) can (among other things) display total RAM, and available RAM stats right on your desktop…

Re:Win2k reads your memory in KB instead of MB.

Whats the problem?

I doubt you can change it, maybe a reg. key or something, but I wouldn't let it bother me. You still have 256MB of ram.

Re:I suspect it is just giving you an exact (6-digit) measure. I don't think 128 or 256 or how ever much RAM you have even comes out as a simple number.
