Q: A friend of the familys computer (XP HOME) has been attacked by worms, and she has a dial-up connection. I want all the updates that need them (the use of broadband in my house) and burn a CD to download. However, the Windows Update Web site lists 77 critical updates for XP home, and I do not separately install all 77 of the updates. Is there a way I can a CD or two with all the updates to install and only need one?
I state that the computer can not connect to the Internet all the worms.

I like to use Autopathcer XP http://www.autopatcher.com/ (https://http://www.autopatcher.com/).
It allows you to install all the critical updates in one step.

is there a way that I can take a cd or two with all of the updates and only install the necessary one?
You can order a CD directly from MS. Here (http://www.microsoft.com/security/protect/cd/order.asp) is the link. It should include MBSA which you can then run on the machine and identify which updates are needed.
In the mean time you should find what updates are needed and then just download those. MBSA (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/tools/mbsahome.mspx) can help you find which updates are needed on that machine.
Looks promising. THank You.
