Q: I tried to install Windows XP on my 17 gig hd one. I have the CD and start the installation. He stops in the midst of copying files. Ive tried three different CD-ROM drives. 2 different copies of the OS and got all my PCI cards. My CPU is running at 42 degrees. Its just not completely. I have a Soyo Dragon Plus MB and 256 MB mem crucial. Can someone help me. Thank you.
Best Answer: first restart it and reconnect .if this is not useful then you can uninstall it or delete it . then connect again to install it's driver again.
Re:Have you tried selecting the "copy all install files to hard drive" option during setup, so it puts all the necessary files on the drive and installs from there? I had a similar problem with one of the XP Release Candidates; Trying to install from the CD was unsuccessful – had to have it put the install files on HD first then go thru its install process…
Re:had the same problem… only way i solved it was by getting a new mobo
Re:If you're using copies of the OS, you may have a media problem. If you're using an original CD, your problem probably lies in the BIOS settings although it seems odd that no messages are generated. Not much help I'm afraid. Sorry:(
Re:No it doesn't generate any error messages. All that happens is that it freezes in the middle of the dos part of the installation and at dfferent times
Re:Does it generate an error message?
