Q: I use the onboard sound of my temporary machine (xp 17000, A7V8x) while I set my new machine. Im picking up terrible interference on my speakers, to the point where I make them off. I know the speakers are good because I tried them on another computer without issue.
The interfernce strange is that the worse things on the screen when I scroll down, like a web page or even moving the mouse.
Any ideas why this may be happening?
Re:Does you "new" machine use an LCD while your "old" machine use a CRT? It could be magnetic shielding issues.
Your motherboard may also not be grounded properly. Ground loops can cause a hum in audio lines.
Also, are you channels correct (L, R, etc.) in rare circumstances, switching these can cause the same kind of looping affect and thus the same type of humming.
Do you have any OTHER electrical devices that may be causing interference with the speakers? I had a phone once, where some switching in the phone was being picked up by my monitors and clicking. Totally annoying. Once I moved the phone (after figuring out it was the phone), no problems.

Re:do you hear a bunch of clicks or is it just like a fade in fade out blur.

Try going into your sound properties and muting the cd player. (im assuming youre playing mp3's)
see what happens when you mute the cd.
it does nothing at all.
I have tried muting everything, and nothing helps
