Q: hi
I have downloaded the SP2 to 90%, but now I start to second thoughts about. Im not sure if it is a good idea to install. Any advice will be appreciated that peoaple. I know, know how much Im willing to have an integrated firewall. I use Sygate, so I am more than satisfied?
Advice please!
Best Answer: No. You will need more RAM. Basically, it is too much OS for most people's PC's at this point. I'd wait until you either install more RAM or get a new PC with Vista already installed.
Read this review, it's got me convinced…
"Whilst initially impressive, after a while these changes can cause problems. Users have reported that the new schemes not only slows down their PC’s but also cause it to crash randomly. It can also be a pain whenever there’s a problem with your PC. Since you are running a somewhat modified version of XP, normal troubleshooting guides may not work. You’ll subsequently have to uninstall the pack to make sure that it isn’t causing the problem. Fortunately however, the pack comes with an uninstaller that makes reverting back to XP simple although in time honoured Windows style, you’ll have to restart the computer.
For anyone who doesn’t add or remove programs regularly, we’d recommend this pack as it does an impressive job at emulating the $200+ Vista look. However, for those that make regular changes to their PC, the pack can end up being more hassle than its worth as the changes made can conflict with interfaces of other programs."
Pros
· Impressive icons and desktop changes
· Free – cheaper than upgrading to Vista
Cons
· Lacks the performance enhancements of Vista
· Can complicate installation of future programs

Re:If you've been running your windows installation a long time without reformating there's a good chance you'll have some problems. You could always try it and see, and uninstall it if you don't like it, or format the drive and install sp2 right after installing windows. Thing is, by now all the hax0rs no about all the flaws that sp2 fixes so you're better off having it installed

Re:I'd say go for it. There are programs that don't work with SP2, but those aren't so many, and they might have some updates. I'd say go with it
