Q: Is there a problem with the internal PCI ADSL cards? Why so many external model? Why not for ADSL modems like 56K produce today and they just plug into the socket, increasing the level of integration and leaving USB and Ethernet adapters for free?
Best Answer: No , they should remain installed.
Maybe the card is not seated correctly.
Uninstall all Dlink software using add/ remove programs
uninstall the card in device mgr
While your PC is off take the pci card out and put it back in and make sure it is all the way in.
While your at it – try swapping out the pci port it is in. Put it in another one just incase the problem is the pci port.
Then try reinstalling the software.

Re:I think the main rason that they have been going to USB rather than PCI models is that they are less difficult to set up. The DSL installers only know so much and don't want to spend the time rearranging PCI slots to find one that does not share an interupt (my internal PCI Efficient Networks DSL modem had that problem). Furthermore, most of the DSL companies are going to self intstall, where the equiptment is shipped to you and you install, configure and plug in the line – USB is much easier for the typical PC user that has never even opened his PC case.

Re:Easier internet sharing is a good explanation… but I was wondering if there are other people thinking like me. See: I have only one computer and do not plan to build a home network to share internet connection, because I'll have an ADSL only for me (i believe most of you are in the same situation). So, it sounds good to me to have all stuff integrated into the case, making all in one box. I don't like the idea to have external equipments, with more cables crossing the back of my machine and space wasted onto my work area. An internal card makes the things "cleaner" and even easier to move. Isn't this way with our 56K modems? So, I believe that the same applies to the internal ADSL (and cable) modems. Why not?
My exact question is: Is there any technical problem with the internal ADSL modems, avoiding the manufacturers to produce them? Or is it only because the internet sharing? I am interested to buy one soon, but as I do not see anybody using it…. it makes me wonder: "- Is there something wrong that I don't know?"
