Q: Im on a PC USB 2.0 and FireWire to another, and I want to get an external hard drive. Is there something that is both based on a particular time or adapters?
Best Answer: I don't know why, but I had problems with fire wire with windows 7. When i used usb 2.0 it worked fine, but not as fast. I would recommend fire wire if it works.
Re:How do you find a PS2 pass through? Most i've seen come will wall warts.
Re:The aluminium box that I got was just a no-name generic, but it is very nice.
No, there's no problem with heat–at least with mine. I'm using a 9.5mm laptop drive in a box for a 12mm drive. Those tiny drives don't produce much heat anyway.
Re:I don't know about all of them but all the ones I have seen have fans in them to keep the drive cool.
Re:guy, what brand was your aluminum one? Also is heat an issue? Are all IDE HDD compatible?
Re:There are tons of them on ebay in 5.25", 3.5" and 2.5" varieties. I got an excellent one with an aluminium case and all the cables (USB and firewire) for $55. Make sure that the one you buy comes with a PS2 passthrough connector for powering the external box so that you won't need a seperate power supply (wall wart).
Re:They have ones that do USB 2.0 & Firewire separately, & there are some that do both as well.
So yes, they exist.
