Is this the normal temperature for O / C CPU? [degree celcius] [golden orb]

Q: Hi all, have
I PIII 700 @ 933, using cooler.
My as CPU temperature is between 48 and 49 degrees Celsius, if only IO/C.
But 38-39 when running on standard clock.
Is my normal CPU temperature for O / C CPU? What is the average temperature of O / C CPU you usually have?

Thanks

Best Answer: A temp of 100 degrees Fahrenheit (about 38 Celsius) for a Pentium 4 is nothing to worry about. My 3.0 Ghz Pentium 4 would hit temperatures of 110 Fahrenheit while playing processor intensive games like Half-Life 2, not a problem.

However, if this 'running temp' continues to rise over time, say into the one-teens and 120's, then you'd best check the processor heatsink for dust. Take out the dust bunnies with a little compressed air and your temps will drop considerably.

Good news is that the Pentium 4 does have throttling, so if it thinks it's getting too hot, it'll slow down automatically BEFORE it melts.

So check for dust in and around the processor, the fans, and the power supply.

Best of Luck.

EDIT: It could be that the fan on your video card was helping the air circulation in your case, but now that it's gone…. just a thought.

Re:I'm running at +0.05V(1.65V ??)
I knew that gorb is not the best fan in the world that's is why I'm looking for the better H/S fan now.
Do you think which one os better Alpha PAL6035 Ultra Kit with Delta 38cfm Fan
or
Alpha PAL6035 Ultra Kit (Includes fan and thermal compound) with a23.5cfm Sunon 60mm ?

thanks

Re:I addmitidly have a super chip but mine only goes to 37.5 celcius at 1.6 volts at 933. With retail heatsink and fan no less. At 1.65 it went up to 42 under load but i think that 48 is ok if a bit hihg. What voltage is that At????

Since your already runs at 38 at default clock i guess 48 is not too bad but the gorbs aren't teh greatest coolers in teh world. JUst keep that in mind.

Re:funny thing, with my fop 32 my tbird oc'ed from 900 to 1050 with n o noticeabe temp jump…was always 24 idle and at the heaviest of cpu usage it goes up to 38.

loo

Re:Thanks guy,
I'm glad to hear that. I will try to find another H/S+fan to make my CPU cooler.

Re:That is a pretty big jump.. 700>933.. especially on an intel CPU.. I say you did good, that is a pretty good temp to be at with that much of an overclock.. you could always try a better cooler, but it should be fine at that temp
