Q: I often re-install Win98SE . In the course of a few months my whole system seems to get kind of slow, slow . and just do a general format and reinstall . I think refurbishing .
Does this happen in Win2000 as well? Or can I just install and leave it for a long time?

Re:guy: Not really…I am forever re-installing Win98SE then trying to update my apps so it's the same as it was before but faster….
I have a certain set of apps I use…
guy: That's not a bad idea, and I intend to try it…I have Drive Image Pro, but I also want to go to Win2000 for other reasons.
Thanks for the input guys.

Re:I have not seen a reason to reformat my computer since I installed win2k the frst time.
(I did onceafter a complete hard crash)
but I added a raid card afterwards so its all good.
But its stable and not lagging like other systems I know.

Re:I have been on this install of Win2k Pro for 9 months, only problems that I have had was cause I used utilites like Norton and made registry errors, had to find the errors to correct but now no more utilites to do my thinking, just use a quality Defrag prog like Diskeeper and this OS ROCKS!

Re:A lot of it has to do with what kind of software you install and how it modifies your system files. But compared to Win98, Win2k is ultra stable and has a much better memory manager. I haven't been able to break it yet after running it 9 months.
