Q: I am a bit rusty on Windows, that is what brings me to this question.
I would be a couple of my machines to be taken, including the one I am now, and go back through the whole server / client setup routine , to renew my memory.
Naturally, I do not want to lose all my bookmarks, especially since I have it set up so nicely. For once.
Should I:
1) Go to “c: Documents and Settings User User Favourites” and copy the folder itself, paste it in exactly the same spot on a new OS install, replacing the “factory stock” folder there already is one I copied from my existing account, or;
2) Do I have the folder, “Select All”, “copy”, go to the Favorites folder to the new install, remove the contents with them contents of my existing folder to replace?
I mean, I suppose I could do it in both directions, but I thought it did not hurt to ask if there is a “best practice” method.
Re:i back mine up on 2 other comps JUST to make sure. a dead hard drive (like the 20 gig western digital REPLACEMENT that just died , again) is a real pain……
good luck

Re:i always open the favorites folder and copy and paste..for some reason i think you can't delete the favorites folder (it's kinda like a systems folder)then put your copy of the favorites folder in the users folder.
you will get a propt if you copy&paste telling you that folders already exist (like music & desktop.ini)just select NO don't over write and your good to go
hope this helps
Re:#2 works fine for me.
Re:Thanks.
I figured as much, but asking a silly question is usually better than WISHING you had. ![]()
Re:Either way, I dont think IE cares. The other option would be to do an export (file>import and export).
