Linux driver for Broadcom integrated LAN controller ASUS A7V8? [asus a7v8] [lan controller]

Q: Hello

I currently have the new asus motherboard based on KT400 A7V8 chip.
Hello

I through newly installed Linux Mandrake 9.0, but it does not recognize my gigabyte integrated LAN on the motherboard. I have the broadcom 5702 chip drivers for Windows XP and 2000 . but not for linux?

Any idea where I can probably find the linux drivers? Are they? Broadcom is a company with a website and drivers? I checked all the asus site, but nothing for linux .
Any tips how to fix it? Maybe try other generic drivers?
PS: Im a newbie to linux

Thanks
Brecht

Re:Okay..guess there are no linux drivers for the 440x Broadcom chips… Thanks for your help guy.

I ll try the 5702 serie drivers , maybe the work for the 440x as well…

And maybe later, i ll write my own ones…

Thanks.

Re:Since Im tired of trying to find drivers for you, Im going to say its unsupported. Your work around is to write drivers for it, or send the card and any tech docs you can get from the manufacturer to a developer and let them make a driver.

EDIT: Download the official Asus drivers. They include a linux version (atleast 5702 does, the latest wouldnt download for me). Didnt think to check in the most obvious place first huh? :P

Re:Not many A7V8 users yet? Common, there has to be a workaround for me, in order to use my Broadcom 4401 under linux mandrake 9.0.

Any help or hints appreciated

Re:I was talking about the 5700 series. Check google, I got a lot of hits, most of them arent relevant though… If I feel like it, Ill look a little later.

Re:About which module are you talking n0cMonkey?

I know there exists linux drivers for the Broadcom 5700 chips (they are GIGAbyte LAN controllers)
but mine is the Broadcom 440x chip which only supports 10 and 100MBps LAN.

Anybody has an idea how to get this integerated controller working in Linux Mandrake 9.0?

thanks

Re:There appears to be a module for it. I dont know its state in 2.4 though.

Re:On my motherboard the Broadcom chip has the number Broadcom '440'…

Maybe it is not the same as the broadcom 5700 chip.

Anyone has any advice how to get my Gigabyte working under Linux Mandrake 9.0?
