Logitech Z-680 / Realtek ALC655 Question [logitech z 680] [sound thanks]

Q: I just hooked my new speakers to the onboard sound of my friends motherboard. While they work well during the tests will not be the speaker speakers in the right place, ie the subwoofer is activated when I click the right surround speaker. All cables are connected correct, and I downloaded the latest drivers for the onboard sound. Thanks for any tips.

Re:I buddy of mine and I went out and bought these speakers. They worked great with my Audigy 2 ZS but he had a turtle beach card and his center never worked until he upgraded for unrelated reasons to my card. Try logitech tech support if you cant fix it yourself by re-routing the wiring manually…. oh wait… the sub is the problem….

lol… i dunno man… new card? ;)

Re:ok thanks. I've told him to buy a sound card anyways so hopefully that will fix it.

Re:This is actually a common problem with the Z-680 for some reason. I had the same problem but with the creative audigy2 ZS gamer card, and I know of a few others whom had this problem with a variety of different sound cards/mobo setups, but all had the Z-680. Mine is ok now, just spent about 4 hours playing with speaker positions and wire combinations. If all else fails call creative support. I was close to loosing my mind and calling them to rant, but in the end it worked out. Good luck.

Re:It's a MSI KM4M, VIA KM400 chipset. The wires for the 680's are not color coded so that should be a problem. All the lines are connected correct, I would assume that even if the wires were connected wrong that the subwoofer would still be the subwoofer when clicked. And since it's not, I'm assuming that it's got to be a software problem.

Re:What motherboard?
My NF7-S rev1.2's subwoofer and rear output jacks are reverse-color-coded – I think the rear is supposed to be black, and the center/subwoofer should be orange. They're switched. Took me awhile to figure it out when I was trying to get my z-640's working.
