long distance wireless network [right direction] [long distance]

Q: I am running a small network in our office and need to connect to our shop, which is 250-300 meters, crow flies.

anyone here tried this? can someone point me in the ? not sure what to offer these products.

Best Answer: 1. Get a service that is dial-in with a local number (netzero, AOL, any number of others
2. Get DSL through your phone company
3. Get cable modem service through your cable/sattelite company.

If you are calling an ISP (Internet Service Provider) via , you are being ripped off as any good ISP for you will be a local ISP. A wireless network has nothing to do with directly accessing the internet. The wireless network is just a connection between computers (and routers) in your home/work that does not require running ethernet cables everywhere. If you do have a wireless internet router hooked up to your network, you can connect to the internet, if you have an ISP.

Re:I built a Windsurfer shown on the following site. After installing this little critter on my WUSB54GS I was shocked by it's improvement. I normally saw one other AP besides mine in the area. With the Windsurfer installed I see 4 beside mine.

You might want to try a couple to see if it'll work for you. Although 2 Cantannas would be best. :)

Re:pre-11n solutions are stated as to reach 400m. Belkin and Linksys have Pre-N solutions out right now, so go check em out. I've tested a few at work, and they go almost 550m (about 600y). I also have a cantenna at home that shoots to my friend's house for filesharing. Good stuff.

Breaking The Distance Barrier.
Re:This is easily possible especially if there is a line of sight between the buildings. You are just going to need an access point that can support different types of antennas. You will want two directional antennas (Ex, Dish).

There is a whole flew of formulas that can be used to determine loss and gain.
