Q: Ive always avoided it because if I was doing something intensive like burning a DVD, I thought it would ruin them. Now I have a dual core processor . So what the hell?
Where can I get some very flashy screensavers . minus the spyware / junk?

Re:I really like some of the GL screensavers that come with the xscreensaver, especially those that take a snapshot of your desktop or another picture and do something with it.

Re:if you have an ATI card, i think some of the older Radeon 9700/9800 demos can be used as a screen saver
definately i remember using the 3 headed dog thing, and the gargoyle clock at one point as screen savers.

they are at the bottom. these ran perfect on a 9500pro so if you have anything with more grunt it will be fine
nvidia dont really have anything like that, other than this http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_bendylogoscreensaver_home.html

I find blank screen to be sexy
Exponential ditto.
I also was searching for a 'cool' screensaver because I was bored of the defauilt 'Windows XP' graphic teleporting on the screen. Then I found out that screensavers are now more or less obsolete for its original purpose of creation due to advancements in display technology (unless you have an ancient CRT). I have no problem with setting Windows to blank out after 10 minutes if inactivity and put my monitor into energy saving mode after 10 additional minutes.
Of course, if you just wanted eyecandy, this hot deals thread might raise your brow (didn't try it, just thought it was relevant):
