Q: I have not seen my friends computer, probably his brother download crap.
but certifying that he gets about 400 pop-ups in one hour when surfing and not surfing (cable connection), and around 4000 day.
Anybody have an idea what this is? I told him to download Ad-Aware, but even that may prove to be tumultous . would be a virus / trojan?

Gotta keep in mind that some legitimate site will require to open another window to open up to proceed. Just make sure to disable that otherwise nothing will show up on the screen.

PopUP Cop (http://www.popupcop.com) is a good program, but it only works for IE.
