Q: I have an Abit IC7 P4 2.4 in which one had a P4 3.2GHz and only new chip, once I started I went to bios and changed my FSB freq back to 200 because I was ocing the 2.4 to 2.8. Once I have the option to save the settings and chose the BIOS screen just freezes. Cannot type, cannot quit / save, or whatever. So I reset the CMOS, reboot and go back into the bios, did make changes, but went back to save and it freezes. When, after a forced restart I get this message:
“CPU is unworkable or has been changed then recheck – CPU soft menu”
when I return to the mark as it should read bios p4 3.20. But Freq. reads as 1.60Ghz?! Anyone know whats going on here or how can I fix this?
Thanks
Re:Your board may require a BIOS flash to use your chip. Abit IC7 BIOS update history (http://www.abit-usa.com/products/mb/bios_revision.php?categories=1&model=5).
Re:According to this, my IC7 does support 3.2 prescott take a look

Yeah and my 2.4c said 1.6ghz when hyper-threading wasnt enabled in the bios…
Re:Hrm well according to Abit the IC7 doesn't support the P4 3.2 cpu? at least thats what I get when I go to their site http://www2.abit.com.tw/abitweb/webjsp/test_report/IC7/IC7-01.php
