Q: I read the FAQ, but saw nothing specifically for this. I wondered what is the best way to this.
Ive been doing a dual boot with win 98se and it went ok. Except that I have a winmodem that machine and I can not find drivers for
still. Anyway, I was wondering what would be the best way to partition the disk. Ive already have
xp. I just have it installed on its own (thats what I did on my 98 machine)? I think its just his own boot loader
installed so I can switch between which OS I want to use. All I want to do is simply
drive split in half for each OS. I have a 40 gig drive. I am using the NTFS file system I did not know if that would problems.
Any cause
any input would be appreciated.
Re:I just used Partition Magic to resize my NTFS partition and make Linux partitions…
Going to install Mandrake now hopefully it will work.
I would try Partition Magic if you have it.
Re:Without destroying it, i doubt it =).
Re:I got partition magic i'll have to try that. I just hope i won't lose any data on my drive. I was thinkin mandrake
let me resize my partition in my 98 machine? I forget though. Does anybody know if it will let me do that?
Re:You'd have to leave some unpartitioned free space to install linux on or maybe partition magic will let you resize that partition without losing your info.
Re:Well when i put xp on that drive i just created one big partition. I think when i did my 98 rig it has a prog on
mandrake to let me change my partitions. I think does anybody else know i forget. It's been a while since
I done it.
Re:Just use a recent release and you should be able to install on whatever free space you have available.
