Many add in board partners have shipped Radeon 3850 512MB cards, but they will be your big quantities of these cards in about two weeks time. Currently, all ultra-cheap Radeon 3850 256MB cards in stock, but for many more people means a significantly faster memory card, which often lack the case.
The price difference between 256MB and 512MB is so marginal that we just could not? T advise anyone to go for the 256MB card, but if this is your only choice is something you should consider.
The biggest problem is that far too many great games are out and people have patience, but luckily for ATI, Nvidia is difficult to the ship G92 / D8P 8800GT based cards such as ATI well.
The market should stabilize in about two weeks, so you should be able to buy a Radeon 3850 512MB by that time.

Re:best guess is that they'll be $20 more than 3850 and $20 less than 3870. getting to 775 core or higher shouldn't be too hard, but it might be hard to get 1126 mem.

Re:I overclocked mine pretty conservatively to 700/999. I haven't had any issues so far. I would go higher, but I haven't felt the need in any of the games I have played.
edit: I am pretty sure I will up the memory to 1050 tonight, so that it runs at 3X the shader clock speed. (effective speed would be 2100MHz)

Re:The guy's/ gal's here with a 3850, can you please post your overclock achievements on your card? This 512 3850 should overclock to be a 3870 nonetheless. And a pair of them sound's pretty sweet.
