Q: I have not found until it was too late, youre not supposed to connect your laptop to keep all the time. So now I have a laptop battery that holds a charge every 30 seconds. If Im lucky that youre finally a whole 2 minutes. Ive tried discharging / recharging it several times, but it does not seem to help much. If I do it often enough the battery will eventually be useful? Do not really want to spend up to $ 150 for a new battery, so any help is appreciated. Thank you.
Best Answer: Nickel Metal Hydride. Compare these two batteries at http://www.batterypowerplus.com/store.ph…
The Nickel battery is 4000 mAh and the Lithium one is 3000 mAh and both are 8 cells. Nickel Metal Hydride battery has 33% higher capacity.
Re:maybe a year and half old
Re:How old is the battery?
Re:It's a KDS laptop with a Lithium Ion battery. If anyone has some more details regarding the procedure to "shock" the battery, that would be great. Thanks.
Re:There is supposed to be a way to shock a battery so that it can be fully discharged and recharged. OTOH, your battery may have been damaged beyond help.
. You may end up having to send it off for testing to a good battery supplier/rebuilder like (actually I don't know whether they still do rebuilding, but they may be able to point you in the right direction):

Re:What kind of laptop do you have? Is it a nicad or a lithium battery? It could be the charger itself. As far as I know lithium ion batteries have more sophisticated charging systems that prevent overcharging.
