Best Answer: Hi,
This blue screen is called as Blue Screen of Death (BSOD), Stop Error or Fatal Exception. The BSOD is a colloquialism used for the error screen displayed by Microsoft Windows, after encountering a critical system error that can cause the system to shut down to prevent irreversible damage to its integrity. It serves to present information for diagnostic purposes that were collected as the operating system issued a bug check.
Common Causes:
1. Corrupted System Files
2. Corrupted Registry
3. Non-Compatible or Mulfunctioning Hardware
4. Corrupted Installation
5. Defective RAM
6. Non-Compatible DLL Files
7. Problem with a Driver
8. Hard Disk Problem
9. Virus infection

Please Provide the "Error Code":
It is necessary to know the exact "Error Code" printed on the BSOD. This will help knowing the right path to resolve the problem. If you see BSOD for few seconds, and it automatically restarts your system, then you need to change a setting.
[1] Corrupted System Files:
Backup all your important data, and then Format the system drive, and Reinstall Microsoft Windows.
[2] Corrupted Registry:
1. Boot your system in the Safe Mode, by pressing F8 key before your operating system starts booting.
2. Repair the whole system registry, using a registry cleaner software, such as, RegInOut available here: http://download.cnet.com/RegInOut/3000-2…
[3] Non-Compatible or Mulfunctioning Hardware:
A recently installed hardware may not be functioning properly or may be not supported with the version of the opreating system you installed. So, refer to the Manual of the corresponding hardware, and remove it temporarily.
[4] Defective RAM:
1. Click Start -> Control Panel -> System and Maintenance -> Administrative Tools -> Memory Diagnostics Tool.
2. Click "Restart now and check for problems (recommended)" option.
[5] Non-Compatible DLL Files:
If you have recently installed a software, then remove it. Otherwise, try doing a system restore by clicking Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore.
[6] Problem with a Driver:
A recently installed Driver may be causing BSOD. Uninstall it, or restore your system to an earlier state by clicking Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore.
[7] Hard Disk Problem:
Bad sectors problem can be resolved by performing the steps below:
1. Open My Computer.
2. Right click a drive, and select "Properties".
3. Click "Tools", and "Check Now".
4. Follow the on screen instructions.
[8] Virus Infection:
Do a system scan by using an antivirus software, such as, Free Avast, Kaspersky Internet Security, MalwareBytes AntiMalware. Remove those viruses found.
[9] Misc:
If the BSOD appears for a specific and definite program, then ensure your computer fulfills all the Minimum System Requirements to use that program.

Re:thanks guys i got it to work.. i don't know what was wrong with it i tried flipping the cable and that didnt' work either so i put it back the way i had it.. and it worked.. but the wierd thing is, is that the cable doesn't seem to fit on all the way .. but who cares.. it works
Re:Sounds like the floppy drive is not properly identified in the bios.
Boot into the bios and see if the floppy drive is ID'ed as 3.5" @1.44
Re:Try replaciig the floppy cable!
Re:Can you boot to floppy? If so, the problem is Windows, and I don't know what to do.
If the drive light goes on and off but the drive still can't read disks, it's a sign that the drive could be plugged into the wrong connector on the cable – it has to go to the connector immediately the first twist in the cable.
Re:is the A drive set in bios for read/write?
Re:without even opening the case, it the floppy activity light comes on when you power on and stays on, that often means the cable is flipped
otherwise cable is loose, or the drive croaked
Re:My floppy is doing the exact same thing in WinME and my cable is installed correctly and the drive is new. I have even tried other drives and same thing. I know the drives work because I have tried them in other systems. My machine usually returns a "disk in drive A is not formatted" and I know the disk has data on it. Sometimes when I reboot the floppy will work for a short time and then go crazy.
Re:cable
or the floppy drive is dead ……
