Q: Now, I have tons of different media (disks Bland) always says that no media in the drive. Got tried updating firmware etc.
it can read discs already written, but not noticing the blank CD / CDRW s grrrr
anyone?
Re:hrrrmmm, i just installed it on my other pc and she works fine.
the only think I can think of is that when I installed nero6 something must have gone terribly wrong.

Re:yes, it still detects the cd. that's why I don't think it's broken.
any cd with anything on it, it will detect. but when I throw blanks in there, it just don't seem to detect them.
I'm trying the roll back of the ide drivers, thanks for the suggestion.
Re:roll back the IDE controller driver in device manager to the XP driver if you have loaded the drivers from the motherboard cd and try that.
